Grass Runner - Peperomia pellucida - Caule procumbente - Salad soldier

Peperomia pellucida, better known as couresse grass, is one of the 400 species of peperomia. It is native to tropical America and is a ruderal plant found in shady wetlands.

Succulent, and edible, this annual plant flowers all year round not exceeding 30cm in height with translucent light green stems and alternate, petiolate leaves.

Advice and maintenance

Couresse grass is very easy to care for. She is growing very fast. Plant it in a moist shady place and watering only when the soil is dry.

Poor drainage can cause root rot and cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) can cause ringspots. The only treatment is to destroy the infected plants. The plant is host to scale insects and the leaves are often eaten by slugs.

Upon receipt of your plants, moisten the pot for a few minutes to rehydrate the roots. Plant immediately with or without the pot by inserting it into a suitable hole.
