Coconut palm - Cocos nucifera - Nut palm

The coconut palm is a palm native to the tropical regions of the Pacific Ocean. It measures between 5 and 30 m in height and its evergreen leaves can reach 6 m in length. They are green and pinnate, and bear small white or yellow flowers.

The fruit called coconut is between 15 and 25 cm in diameter, surrounded by a brown shell, very resistant. It is edible raw, its white flesh, called almond or copra, and the liquid it contains or coconut milk are consumed. The flesh is also used in the manufacture of cosmetics.

Advice and maintenance

The coconut palm appreciates sandy, salty and well-drained soils. A very sunny and humid exposure.

Upon receipt of your plants, moisten the pot for a few minutes to rehydrate the roots. Plant immediately with or without the pot by inserting it into a suitable hole.
