Carambola - Averrhoa carambola

The carambola is a fruit tree from tropical regions that measure up to 15 m high. It blooms four times a year.

The fruit source of vitamin C is a berry with five fused carpels whose section forms a star and each containing two flat seeds. Depending on the variety, more or less tangy, it is used in juice or fruit salad, in jam or in sauces. It can also be used to decorate dishes and desserts.

Advice and maintenance

Lhe carambola likes the heat. Place in a shaded area, out of direct sunlight. Acidic, well-drained soils, and a high water requirement during the growing season. Make sure there is never a lack of water and avoid temperature variations. The soil must always remain moist.

Upon receipt of your plants, moisten the pot for a few minutes to rehydrate the roots. Plant immediately with or without the pot by inserting it into a suitable hole.
